Adenosine is a molecule your cells use in energy and signalling. Applied to the scalp, researchers found it acts on the dermal papilla — the cluster of cells at the base of the follicle that governs the growth cycle.

What the trials show

In a randomized controlled trial in men with androgenetic alopecia, adenosine increased the ratio of thick, terminal hairs and improved global assessments (Tsuboi et al., 2009). A separate study in women showed positive investigator and self-assessments over 12 months (Oura et al., 2008). That’s evidence in both men and women — something not every active can claim.

How it works
